Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation plays most crucial role in Sports Medicine by screening of Neuro-musculoskeletal and Biomechanical abnormalities, clinical & radiological assessment of sports injuries, post-injury & post-surgical rehabilitation, recovery and early return to sports as well as prevention of injuries. Comprehensive Sports Rehabilitation which should be started as early as possible, consists of pain management (by conservative, interventional & regenerative therapy), flexibility, joint range of motion, strength & endurance training, proprioception & co-ordination, proper nutrition and sports psychology.

When our Interventional Physiatry team and Neuro-Rehabilitation team are achieving one after another milestons, this is the time for our Podiatry & Amputee Rehabilitation team to accept really a tough challenge. This 42years old house wife with bilateral below knee amputation due to post CoViD complication has been managed with bilateral transtibial prosthesis with suprapatellar and supracondylar suspended carbon fibre laminated socket, carbon fibre based light weight energy restoring trias feet and adapter kits following stump care, exercise therapy, modalities, occupational therapy, psychological counselling and home modification.
We are really thankful to Prof. (Dr) DK Sarkar, Dept. Of General Surgery and Prof. (Dr) AK Pal, Dept. Of Orthopaedic for their tremendous support.

Another memorable milestone has been achieved by our dynamic Interventional Physiatry team. IDB is a recent advanced pain management procedure by denervating painful vertebral disc (39-65% of non-radiating lower back pain) with cooled bipolar radio-frequency. This is the first-ever IDB procedure, done by any government hospital of India. This news has been published today in several frontline newspapers.
