We mourn the passing of Dr. Vasanthi Badrinath (1939–2025), esteemed pediatrician and hematologist, and the wife of our founder, Dr. S.S. Badrinath.

Beyond her medical career, she was a motherly figure to the Sankara Nethralaya family — a source of warmth, strength, and inspiration. She stood as a pillar of support in building our mission of compassionate care and service.

Our deepest condolences to her family. May her soul rest in peace.

World Record Alert!

Thirty-six of our nurses participated in a synchronized national training program conducted by the Association of Nurse Executives (India) from April 10–12, 2025, setting a new world record!

A total of 15,718 nurses were trained simultaneously across India on preventing medication administration errors.

We’re proud to share that our Nursing Superintendent, Ms. Jospheen Nayagi, was one of the 254 national trainers.

The achievement is now officially recognized by Einstein World Records, UAE.

The Department of Cornea and Refractive Surgery successfully conducted a first of its kind Wet Lab Workshop on Refractive Surgery on July 27, 2025. This was attended by our in-house 10 cornea fellows as well as few alumni cornea fellows. Due to high patient expectations in the refractive surgery clinic, it is difficult for cornea fellows to acquire hands-on surgical skills. To bridge this gap, the workshop gave a platform to practice and refine essential skills required for refractive surgery in a controlled environment. Preliminary talks and lectures were given as primer prior to the hands-on wet lab procedure. The workshop included wet lab training on advanced refractive procedures such as Femto-LASIK, SMILE, ICL implantation, and SBK laser surgery. This was followed by a lunch gathering to exchange insights and experiences.

Thanks to the diligent cornea department consultant, enthusiastic fellows and the generous support of our corporate partners, the workshop was a great success.
