Since we are talking on the theme of trauma, it’s important to talk about sexual fawning.

Our society often invalidates people’s experience of assault if they didn’t fight back, assuming there was no assault if there was no resistance.

But what is less known is that it is our body’s way of surviving. Our bodies are so intelligent that everything they do is for survival- including NOT fighting back.

If someone is strong enough t to oppress you sexually, your body knows that it is best to just go with it than fight back for its survival.

This is so important because if we understand the physiology behind sexual fawning, we can congratulate the person’s body for taking over and help the survivor to uncouple the shame of not fighting back.

When we think of trauma, we often think of acute, catastrophic events: the loss of a loved one, a natural disaster, a terrible accident. But trauma can also come from events that typically don't involve violence or disaster, but do create significant distress.

Let’s understand trauma through these two stories of Heena & Anisha.

Important to note that trauma is a subjective experience. It is not the event in itself, but our emotional response to that event.
