A few days ago, I encountered an intriguing case involving a patient who had previously undergone a Dilation and Evacuation (D and E) procedure elsewhere and subsequently presented with severe abdominal pain. Upon performing an ultrasound, we identified two concerning findings: uterine perforation and the presence of a complex mass in the left adnexa, potentially indicative of an ectopic pregnancy. This case underscores the importance of diligently ruling out ectopic pregnancy before embarking on any surgical abortion procedures in early pregnancy.
