e day of kalipuja are the traditional competitions like tubri competition/dhunuchi naach which are unique in salt lake and causes massive footfall in labony. No puja is complete without immersion and labony estate is very well known for its immersion parade.Close to a thousand people take part in the immersion parade and it include labony residents as well as friends/families of labony residents from outside.The Immersion parade is of such volume that it takes around 3 hours to complete a journey of 2 kms from labony to PNB island. Labony Estate has total of 700 flats. It has close to 3000 residents.Labony Estate is a complete residential complex in terms of facilities. It has a market,pharmacy,medical centre and its own post office and also a primary school. The puja is organized in the central ground of labony.The central ground is about 2500 sq. All the stalls are arranged in the approach and exit road to the pandal. Each stall is granted 150 sq feet which can be changed on request. The abundance of space and strategic placement of the stalls in the approach/exit road offers ample opportunity to run a marketing campaign in any way the client wants. For the record we had footfalls close to 5000 on last kalipuja night. Cultural programs of labony estate has been always been a massive crowd puller in past. The inauguration is always is done by some eminent Bengali personality, some names in the recent past includes Bappy Lahiri,Mithun Chakraborty,PK Banerjee,Shyamal Sen (ex-governor of WB) etc. The cultural program is an affair of 2 days. We were to bring some of the most famous names in the bollywood/bengali/band circles. Artists like Babul Supriyo, Swapna Awasti, Swagatalaxmi Dasgupta, Miss Jojo, Monomoy, Nachiketa, Indranil Sen, and Charndrabindoo among others have performed in the past. The footfall during the cultural program always keeps the volunteers and committee members busy. The artist selection of cultural program is always done in such that it is able to serve to all residents of labony, from very senior residents of labony to very junior residents. In this way we ensure total participation of all residents of labony as well as from a large number of people attend the cultural program from outside.
