He has done his training at the Tata Memorial Hospital, (TMH) Mumbai. He is founder of the Bengal Oncology Foundation (BOF). He started his training at the Tata Memorial Hospital, (TMH) Mumbai in Feb 1988 and completed a rigorous residency training programme in 1993. Having performed about 10,000 or more cancer operations during this period, he has developed invaluable experience in this discipline. In July 2019, he was awarded ‘Bishista Chikitsha Samman’ by the honorable Chief Minister, government of West Bengal.Received 'Appreciation Award' from Apollo Hospital's in 2016. He is currently the Clinical Director of Surgical Oncology at Peerless Hospital. Known for his high integrity and artistic surgical skill, he is widely recognised in the discipline. In addition to his routine activities, he is well known in the social area for his work on cancer awareness in Bengal. He developed the Bengal Oncology Foundation (BOF) to make a contribution to the society for the awareness in cancer. Closely associated with TMH, Mumbai, BOF has made a crucial impact in the social awareness of cancer. Dr Mukhopadhyay has attended several national and international conferences in the past decade to be updated in the discipline and worked relentlessly to develop surgical oncology as a discipline in Bengal. He is National Patron of 'Voice of To***co Victims' ( VoTv ) working relentlessly to achieve a To***co free West Bengal. He has been invited as a visiting faculty in various national and international conferences including at TMH, Mumbai.
