“Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar” is a call for Health Abhiyan launched from 17th September 2025 till 2nd October 2025 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India, to fulfil the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 as health and empowerment of women is central to the progress of our families, communities and nation at large. To observe the health Abhiyan, several activities were undertaken by the ICMR-NIRBI, Kolkata.

Pledge in Hindi and English was taken by the staff of the ICMR-NIRBI along with ICMR Hqrs and other ICMR Institutes on the “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar”. Following this, pledge was taken in Bengali also by the staff of the ICMR-NIRBI. On the day 70 participants that included scientists, both permanent and project staff took pledge in person. Several staff took pledge on-line also and have submitted copy of their certificates.

Event 1
A dynamic and interactive session titled "Work-Life Balance" Role Play Activity was successfully conducted on 18th September 2025 in ICMR- NIRBI Kolkata. The session was led by Dr. Debjit Chakraborty, Scientist E, ICMR-NIRBI who facilitated the event with great insight, empathy, and engagement. The activity focused on addressing the daily challenges faced by working women in managing their personal and professional lives. Number of participants was 70.
Event 2
ICMR -NIRBI, Kolkata, conducted a Community outreach programme in a local slum at 23/5 Narkeldanga Main Road, opposite side of Dr.B.C.Roy Children Hospital, Phoolbagan, Kolkata, on 18th September 2025 at 03.00 PM. The main aim was to raise awareness about Nutrition & Mental Health among the women residents. Dr Indranil Saha, Scientist - E & Mr. Chandan Mandal, Technical Officer -B, ICMR - NIRBI, Kolkata represented ICMR-NIRBI at the event. About 31 women, from adolescents to older adults participated in this awareness campaign.

A Community Outreach Program on Women’s Health was organized at Bhabanipur, Sonarpur-2, Kolkata by ICMR-NIRBI
The program highlighted key aspects of women’s nutrition during pregnancy, raised awareness about PCOD/PCOS, and emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene. Sessions on oral health and dental care addressed specific issues related to pregnancy gums and dental diseases, along with preventive measures against common problems such as tooth decay. More than 30 women across age groups, many accompanied by their children—including expectant mothers—actively participated, making the initiative highly impactful.

Health Camp at MRHRU
A health Camp was organised by MRHRU Darjeeling, ICMR-NIRBI at Ambootia Tea Garden, Ambhotia T.E., Kurseong, West Bengal. 75 participants who participated in the health camp underwent clinical examination like anthropometry, haemoglobin, lung function test (spirometry). The health camp was supported by the College of nursing, NBMC and Sukna BPHC

Event 1
An Awareness Camp was successfully organized at AIWC Buniyadi Girls High School, Beliaghata, Kolkata by ICMR–NIRBI. The program aimed to promote adolescent health, empower young girls with knowledge, and encourage healthy practices for lifelong well-being. A total of 66 adolescent girls enthusiastically participated in the camp. The sessions were structured to address key health challenges faced by adolescents, with a strong emphasis on preventive care and awareness building.
Event 2
An awareness Camp was conducted on 22nd September 2025 at St. Thomas School, Free school Street Kolkata. Scientists of the Institute organised an awareness programme on prevention of infectious diseases amongst school going students especially amongst the girls and overall good health. About 130 students from Class V to class IX participated in the programme.

ICMR-NIRBI, Kolkata organized a special Health Talk on “Women’s Nutrition and Oral Health & Diseases” on 24th September 2025. The program aimed to create awareness about the importance of oral health and balanced nutrition in improving the overall well-being and quality of life of women. The session featured two eminent guest speakers: a) Dr. Ash*t Pal (Ex-Professor and Head, Dept. of Periodontics, RADCH), who delivered an insightful talk on “Oral Health of Women.” and b) Dr. Ananya Bhowmik, who spoke on “Nutrition for Women at Different Ages.” The event was attended by approximately 53 participants, including scientists, researchers, project staff, Ph.D. scholars, and other employees.

An awareness camp was conducted by ICMR-NIRBI among devotees and pandal hoppers in the morning of Durga Puja Maha Saptami at Keshtopur and New Town area. Enthusiasts thronging the Durga Puja pandals in both these areas enthusiastically participated. Posters carrying the message of Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar campaign were distributed among the participants.
