The Study on DIABETIC PATIENT'S
👉The FDA advises against initiating metformin if the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is below 45 mL/min/1.73 m² and recommends stopping the medication if the eGFR falls below 30 mL/min/1.73 m².
👉Regular kidney function tests (at least annually) are recommended for long-term users, with more frequent checks for those with existing kidney issues.

Recommendations for Long-Term Diabetes Medication(Metformin)Users:
*👉Ensure your doctor monitors your kidney function (eGFR) regularly.
*👉Be aware of symptoms of lactic acidosis: unexplained fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, or severe stomach pain.
*👉Ask your doctor to check your vitamin B12 levels, as long-term use can cause deficiency.
*👉Temporarily stop taking metformin if you are experiencing severe dehydration, vomiting, or are undergoing medical procedures involving contrast dye, as these can cause acute kidney injury.
