Navigating Menopause: Beyond the Individual – A Shared Responsibility
Menopause is often seen as a deeply personal journey, but the conversations in my recent session on emotional well-being and self-care strategies revealed a much broader reality.
The feedback session was overwhelming, with women courageously sharing how they navigated this transition with patience, hard work, and resilience. One key takeaway? Menopause is not just a women's issue—it’s a family and societal conversation.
Participants strongly voiced that these sessions should extend beyond women over 40 and include spouses, children, and family members, who all play a crucial role in creating a supportive environment. From physical and emotional changes to the challenges of empty nest syndrome, the impact of menopause is far-reaching.
With Kerala’s ageing population and increasing life expectancy, the magnitude of menopause-related challenges is growing at an alarming rate. It’s time to break the silence, foster open discussions, and build a culture of understanding and support.
This session was just the beginning. More conversations, awareness programs, and support systems are needed to empower women through this transition. Let’s make menopause a shared responsibility.
What are your thoughts? How can we create a more supportive environment for women during this phase of life?
