A meaningful day with the incredible parents of special-abled children 🤍
The session was initiated and led by Fathima Thasneem and Shana Ismath, creating a safe and supportive space for parents to reflect, learn, and grow together.
We spoke about emotional support for caregivers, reminding them that “You cannot pour from an empty cup.” We discussed burnout, social isolation, marital and family stress — and emphasized that asking for help is strength, not weakness.
We explored promoting independence, understanding when to step back, allowing safe failures, and celebrating effort over perfection. Confidence grows when children are given the chance to try.
Through practical home strategies and ADL training, parents learned step-by-step teaching, visual supports, calm-down techniques, and the power of consistency.
Independence develops slowly — consistency matters more than speed. 🌿
Grateful to walk alongside such resilient families.
