Foot ulcer is a long term complication of diabetes. When diabetes stay uncontrolled for years, it will damage of your nerves and vessels. It leads to reduced blood supply to the lower limb, and reduced sensation as well. This will create a situation where, if a wound happens in your leg it may stay unnoticed. Increased blood sugar, reduced blood supply, and reduced sensation will leads to infections. Bacterias will multiply in the wound, forms pus and start spreading. The wound will become bigger, deeper and most often stay painless.
In Ayurveda, these type of wound is called 'Dushtavruna'. The term signifies the amount of humoral involvement. There are lot of treatment modalities we adopt to treat these type of infected wounds. Every patient need a unique protocol for curing. The doctor needs to examin the patient and decide the appropriate treatment. Personalized Ayurvedic approach is seen to be very useful in healing the wound.
This is case of 65 year old man came to our opd. The case was in treatment of a famous modern hospital in Kannur. Even after many months treatment, the wound does not responded. Patient approached us with disappointed mind. We started treatment, and it took 2 months to cure it completely. The patient was cooperative to treatment and it went well.
This is an example of the efficacy of Ayurveda to treat such conditions. We give full credit to this ancient medical science. Jay Hind
