Child of 4 years presented to the dental clinic. Apparently the child wouldn't go to school and on counseling it was revealed that the child would be better if the upper anterior teeth were replaced. Child was quite withdrawn and had low self esteem. In the clinic today, upper anteriors were pulp treated under local anesthesia. Laser crown lengthening was done to improve the retention. Strip crowns were placed and the result is quite evident. Happy child. Happy smiles... Dr Raju Sunny

Mitera hospital along with GDC, Kottayam recently conducted a workshop on dental treatment under general anaesthesia for pediatric dentists across Kerala. It's the preferred method of treatment for small children who are too young to co operate on the dental chair.

A dental office can be a pretty scary place to a small child.It may be due to a previous bad experience or they overheard someone. Mostly it's due to the fear of the unknown. We will take the utmost care to make ur little one comfortable, but if they still cannot be persuaded for dental treatment, we at Mitera have an alternative. Dental treatment under sedation!!

We all know the importance and confidence a good smile gives us. But how many of us know that smile is important even for our kids. It's a common sight today to see children with decayed anterior teeth. Parents ignore it thinking the teeth will soon be replaced anyways. The 'soon' might be like some 3 years away. Till then the kid lives with the fear of smiling in public. The fear of being ridiculed by friends. The complex of speaking up in public and even in front of guests. I have seen kids who never smile in school because of the fear of being made fun of. Parents, pls remember, it's important that kids have healthy smiles for growing up to be healthy adults emotionally and physically.
