अंतरराष्ट्रीय नशा विरोधी दिवस के अवसर पर 26जून को शिमला सचिवालय में एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया।जिसमें जिला कुल्लू के भुंतर सतिथ नशा निवारण केंद्र मे तैनात नोडल अधिकारी डॉ. सत्यव्रत वैद्य ने एटीएफ कुल्लू पर व्याख्यान दिया तथा राज्य में नशा मुक्ति के लिए अनुकरणीय सेवाओं एवं योगदान के लिए उन्हें मुख्यमंत्री द्वारा सम्मानित किया गया। मुख्यमंत्री ने डॉ. सत्यव्रत वैद्य एवं उनके टीम द्वारा किए गए उत्कृष्ट कार्यों के खूब सराहना की।

Kullu and Shimla are the most affected districts in HP for drug abuse, with highest no. of cases registered under NDPS act, 1985. Out of 1218 cases registered last year pan Himachal, Kullu alone accounts for 186 while Shimla for 187. This is followed by Mandi's 149 cases, Bilaspur's 125 and Kangra's 99.
Sankalp initiative, Nasha mukti Himachal abhiyan and setting up of a state level model De-addiction and rehabilitation center in Sirmaur's Kotla Barog are some the major steps government is taking to check the menace.
