A 40-year-old man’s life took a dramatic turn when a mild fever and cough escalated into severe pneumonia, leaving him struggling for breath despite ventilator support at another hospital.
Rushed to Medicover Hospitals in a critical state, he was cared for by a multidisciplinary team led by:
* Dr. Ghanshyam – Head of Critical Care
* Dr. Krishna Prasad – CTVS Surgeon
* Dr. A Raghukanth – Interventional Pulmonologist
* Dr. Chaitanya – Interventional Pulmonologist
Recognizing the urgency, the team immediately initiated ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), a life-saving technique that temporarily takes over lung and heart function. His lungs, nearly non-functional, had the chance to heal while the team conducted a bronchoscopy to pinpoint the infection and started targeted antibiotic therapy.
Gradually, the patient improved. He was weaned off ECMO and ventilator support, and today, he is breathing on his own and back to living a normal, healthy life.
Stories like this show how expert care, teamwork, and timely intervention can save lives.
