A new and extremely rare blood group named CRIB has been identified in India. The case involves a 38-year-old woman from Kolar district, Karnataka, whose blood was initially misclassified as O Rh+. However, her blood proved incompatible with all O-positive units, prompting deeper investigation. Advanced analysis revealed a previously unknown antigen in the Cromer blood group system. The antigen has been named CRIB—with “CR” standing for Cromer and “IB” for India, Bangalore. She is currently the only known person worldwide with this blood type.
