Whether someone accept this or not but a certain degree of curiosity remains in everyoneโs mind regarding there destined soul mate. Our revered sages due to their clairvoyant divine sight were able to solve this complex issue & quoted these on ancient scriptures, which are available today for the welfare of human kind.
Although the methods to determine that can be numerous, but i have tried to quote the simplest of robust methods which can be easily understood by even a novice astrologer.

According to Sage Prashara, in the natal chart of an individual 7th House represents the spouse. As the 1st House or Ascendant is we ourselves , so the right opposite to us is the house allotted to our partner (Reference could be taken out from the 4th house which represents our home dwelling & right opposite to it stands for 10th house our place of work). So, its imperative to look at the condition of 7th house & the placement of 7th House lord in the horoscope. We need to look at it from all the angles of zodiac sign, aspect, conjunction & nakshatra placement of planets.
For instance the presence of Mars in the 7th house will not only cause manglik dosha but also make native vulnerable to a hotheaded partner, same is the case with Moon (emotional & beautiful), Jupiter (Wise & righteous), Venus (Sensual), Saturn (Mature), Mercury (Communicative & intellectual), Sun (Confident & egoist), Rahu (Knowledgeable ) & Ketu (Spiritual).
In case of conjunction in 7th house, we need to look at the natural nature of planets (Benefice/malefic), relationship between posited planets (Inimical or friendly), houses which posited planets rule in the horoscope & last whether they are functional malefic or benefice in the horoscope. Then comes the part of looking at the placement of 7th House lord in the hororscope, placement like 3/11, 4/10, 5/9 is considered good whereas 2/12, 6/8 is not considered auspicious from the 7th House. Also, as we know that the planets give results according to the nakshatra they are sitting in, for example few nakshatras like Dhanistha (Pada 1 only) is not considered good for marital harmony if 7th Lord is posited in it, whereas Uttara Phalguni is considered very auspicious. This whole chemistry could be changed by the aspect of planets, as the aspect of malefics (Mars, Saturn, Rahu & Ketu) could make it vulnerable to late marriage or separation whereas the aspect of benefics could strengthen the bond with all the happiness in the marriage (specially the aspect of Jupiter acts as the biggest savior).
Some astrologers also give significance to the 8th house, as it is the happiness or gain of the 7th house (Not to forget its also the house of In-laws in a natives chart ). So its important to scrutinize the condition of 8th house as well with all the above mentioned techniques.

Vedic astrology is blessed with the comprehensive encrypted details of all the individuals of this world, all what is required is an eye for detail. Like the way we have 3rd house in natal chart to check our relationship with our siblings, we also have a detailed Drekkana chart (D-3) available to look that relationship in detail. Same ways we have been, blessed with Navmansha chart (D-9) to look our matrimonial life with a magnifying glass in hand.
First its important to determine the strength of D-9 chart, in order to deliver any good results. It can be assessed by looking at the dignity of Venus (natural soul significator of D-9 chart), 9th House (aspect/conjunction/lord placement) & the Ascendant in D-9 chart
Many people are also of the opinion that the Ascendant of D-9 chart tells about the innate nature of the partner, for example Aries (Intense & competitive), Ta**us (Materialistic), Gemini (Communicative), Cancer (Beautiful & nurturing), Leo (Rich, loyal & commanding), Virgo (Detail oriented), Libra (Social & beautiful), Scorpio (Secretive), Sagittarius (Righteous & spiritual), Capricorn (Structured & disciplined), Aquarius (Social & philosophical) & Pisces (Emotional)
After that we have to follow the same techniques which we applied in natal chart to determine the 7th House condition which is the actual house of spouse
There have been some miscellaneous claims as well regarding D-9 chart by different astrologers that it tells about the second half of oneโs life (this chart takes precedence over natal chart after the age of 30) or the reason of oneโs birth (Purpose of life) or it tells the true dignity of natal planets
After analyzing both natal chart & D-9 chart, its imperative for the astrologer to make use of his analytical knowledge & God given intuition to land at single line prediction for the wife/husband, married life & the social status of In-laws.
One thing which is bound to happen is the symmetry between both charts, as D-9 chart is nothing but the 9th division of main chart. If D-1 chart is tree then D-9 chart is the fruit of it.
Miscellaneous methods
As per the Jamini astrology, there are 7 karakas (planets) which describe the different sectors of our life based on their planetary nature & placement in the horoscope. Going in the reverse order from highest to lowest of the degree of planets in the horoscope. Planet with the highest degree is known as Atmakaraka (shows personality, self & souls lesson), Amatyakaraka (Shows fame, career, profession & image in society), Bhatrikaraka (Siblings, Gurus & fatherly figures), Matrikaraka (Mother, land, home & parents in general), Putrakaraka (Children, self expression, creativity, education, friends & network circle), Gnatikaraka (Diseases, enemies, debts, hospitals, surgeries, accidents, all types of misfortunes) & Darakaraka (Marriage & spouse)
So, we could infer from the above, that the Darakaraka could also be seen to judge the traits of your spouse.
