The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology, Saraswati Dental College and Hospital, Lucknow, successfully organized “NeckPath: Precision at the Margin,” focusing on the pathological evaluation of marginal neck dissection specimens.

The two eminent External Resource Persons for this program were Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Chaturvedi, MD Oncopathologist, Lucknow Cancer Institute, and Lt. Col. (Dr.) Richa Ranjan, MD Oncopathologist, Lucknow Cancer Institute.

They emphasized the critical role of accurate margin assessment and standardized grossing in head and neck oncology, including reporting.

Oral pathologists and postgraduate students participated and gained practical exposure to systematic grossing protocol, i.e., specimen orientation, inking, nodal level identification, and evidence-based reporting aligned with CAP/WHO guidelines.

The program reinforced the pivotal role of oral pathologists in multidisciplinary cancer care and emphasized the importance of precision in oncopathology.

Saraswati Dental College was established in 1998 and offers BDS and MDS degrees. SDC is the only NAAC "A" Accredited and ISO 9001:2008 certified Dental College in Lucknow. Known for its world class academia and excellent patient care. SDC is ranked amongst the Top Dental Colleges of India. Having an excellent daily OPD, more than 12 million patients have been successfully treated till date at extremely low cost. Saraswati Group of Educational Institutes started as Saraswati Dental College in the year 1998 and has seen tremendous growth in the past 21 years. SGEI was born out of the vision of one man who has ever since headed this Group with vigour and vitality. Col. (Dr.) T.S. Mathur was born in the year 1942 in the city of Lucknow in the state of Uttar Pradesh. After pursuing his studies in the field of Dental Surgery from the prestigious King Georges Medical College, Lucknow, Col. Mathur was commissioned into the Indian Army as a First Class Officer in the year 1965. During the 25 years in the Army command, he saw various Dental Centers all over India. During his travel across the length and breadth of the country, Col. Mathur got the opportunity to experience various cultures and systems spread across various states of our beautiful Country. In 1990 Col. Mathur took retirement from the Indian Army and settled down in his hometown Lucknow. He realized that Uttar Pradesh was far behind in the field of professional education when compared to states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. With a vision to give the students a state of art education based on Global needs and high moral values he conceptualized what today stands as the top Dental College of the State,” The Saraswati Dental College” or SDC, in the year 1998, incorporating and invoicing the name of The Goddess of Learning “Maa Saraswati”. In the year 2004 SDC got its Recognition from the DCI and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare New Delhi and Post Graduate program (M.D.S.) was subsequently started in the year 2005. This M.D.S. program has set benchmarks in the field of Dental teaching and research.
