Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD), Regional, lucknoe organised aTwo Days Workshop on Child and Adolescent Mental Health Interventions and Psychosocial Care for Child Care Institution (CCI) Functionaries  for the State of Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand, from 11-12 Nov.2025.
I was invited as an expert to conduct this technical session. A total of 40 participants including Superintendents participated in this training programme.

It was a privilege to be invited as a Guest Speaker at Amity school of Communication, Amity University. I spoke about "Mindfulness - A Key to Compassionate Communication. "
The entire session was Experiential and not just a monologue.
Students interacted with full zest and enthusiasm.

"All Good things come to an end" and so our training for the Summer Batch 2024 got over yesterday. It was the most curious and diligent batch of Budding psychologists.

As every year, we had Students from Christ church University Delhi, Bangalore, Ghaziabad, Amity University, , Sri Ram swaroop University, Jaipuria, GD goenka, IT college etc. 🧿
Going to miss them all but as they say we must savor the good times and cherish memories.
I wish all of my trainees good luck for their future endeavors.

On the Occassion of International Yoga Day, I was invited to hold a session on Mindfullness at Amity University, Lucknow. by the Dean Academics Dr.Manju Agarwal. The session was organised for HOD's and HOI's to bring Mindfullness into daily practice.I am filled with gratitude as the session recieved all the praises from Faculty members, Dr.Manju Ma'am and Pro Vice chancellor as well.

In my understanding, Mindfullness roots reach deep into Hinduism and Buddism and majorly based on Zen and Vipassana.
This insight based mindful Meditation helps to get aware of ourselves on purpose , at the present moment Non judgementally.
Our mind is either constantly dwelling in the past or ruminating about future.Mindfullness help us being more aware of what is present for us mentally , emotionally and physically in each moment.The practice cultivates the possibility of setting ourselves freeing from habitual patterns of thinking, feeling and reacting.

2 decades back when I decided to become a Counseling Psychologist , many were not even acquainted with this word.
People told me there is no scope in this field.Only renowned psychiatrists were working with mostly severe cases and treating patients with the help of Psychotropic medicines/ Pharmacotherapy.
Being a rebel, I was always fascinated by those territories which were tough and unknown. So, after facing lots of disagreements and challanges from all the fronts I completed my studies and chose Counseling psychology as a Specialization.
I thought this was all I had to do and now I am ready to transform many lives.
I joined a NeuroPsychiatric Hospital where I was sitting around Psychiatrists , Physicians, and pathologists. When I got to see my First case I was totally lost as in how to apply my textbook theories into practice. I was clueless , so I discussed with my senior Psychiatrist and he guided me how to go about.
I kept watching him how he treats his patients, what Modalities along with pharmacotherpay works best with different diagnosis,What psychometric assessments were being used and after almost 1.5 years I could atleast understand where do our Indian universities lack.
Theories are undoubtedly the plinth of Psychology but without honing our skills and equipping ourselves with practical tools and techniques such theories would not be of any help when it comes to change. From building Rapport, Relating to understanding and finally Changing this collaboration becomes extremely challanging process for a therapist.A wide range of competencies and skills are required in real world setting. This includes

*Clinical Assessment and diagnosis techniques
*Going through DSM and ICD
*Therapeutic interventions and counseling skills
*Research methods and data analysis
*Ethical and professional conduct
*Case formulation and conceptualization
*Using Different Intervention Modalities
*Collaboration and Alliance
After years of practical experience and earning various certifications When I started giving training and providing internships I promised myself to give a wide exposure to my students and budding psychologists so that they don't feel lost while entering

Sigmund Freud said that the relationship between the therapist and a client is always a key component of successful treatment. Since that time, research has shown that the quality the "therapeutic alliance is the strongest predictor of whether therapy is successful or not.
The three essential qualities of an effective alliance are emotional bond of trust, caring, and respect; agreement on the goals of therapy; and collaboration on the "work" or tasks of the treatment.
A collabprative approach and shared sense of ownership for the treatment is also a Game changer.

EXCLUSION CULTURE

They bring nine chairs for ten children, and they tell the children that the winner is the one who gets the chair, and whoever remains without a chair is out of the game.

Then they reduce the number of chairs each time and a child comes out every time
Until one child remains and he is declared the winner.

The child learns the culture of “Myself, myself, and in order to succeed, I must remove others.”

And in Japanese kindergartens, they play the game of chairs too.

And they also come with nine chairs for ten kids, with a difference !
There they tell the children that you have no more chairs.
If one of you remains without a chair, everyone loses.
All the children try to hug each other so that all ten children can sit on nine chairs.
And then they reduce the number of chairs successively with the rule remaining that they must make sure that no one remains without a chair or else they will all lose.

The child learns culture
"I cannot succeed without the help of others to succeed"!
