🧠 World Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month 2025 🌿
Honoured to be invited as a resource person at the 2nd National Panel Discussion on “Explicit Arcs of Alzheimer’s”, hosted by the Institute of Public Health & Hygiene College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
I had the opportunity to speak on a subject close to my heart: "The Role of Geriatric Centres in Upholding Mental Health."
As our elderly population grows, so does the urgent need to create supportive, engaging, and therapeutic environments. Geriatric centres aren't just care homes — they are retreats of dignity, offering structured mental health support, social stimulation, medical care, and most importantly, emotional connection.
🕊️ These spaces become even more vital when cognitive illnesses like Alzheimer’s begin to cast their shadows.
One such example of commitment to elder mental health is Nirvan Hospital, Lucknow, which has been tirelessly working for decades to provide compassionate, specialized psychiatric care for the elderly.
Let’s keep the conversation going — because caring for our elders is not a responsibility, it’s a privilege.

With Masters in Psychiatry from the prestigious ERA Medical College batch of 2018, Dr Deeptanshu Agrawal represents the new and dynamic face of Nirvana Hospital, which was established three decades back in 1991.
Dr Deeptanshu Agarwal is the second generation professional dedicated to the cause of drug abuse, its cure and rehabilitation. Deeptanshu, as a young 9 year old cricket enthusiast was happy wielding the cricket bat in the park opposite his house, where the De-addiction patients would frequent every evening. The patients would come to the park every day and much to Deeptanshu’s delight, the patients would join him for a game of cricket.
Who would have known then, that one day this young boy would go on to touch the same lives of such patients as a psychiatry specialist.
Dr Deeptanshu swears by his focused approach in treating a limited number of patients. “Limited, but sure!!” Dr Deeptanshu, from the very first day of his professional career has dedicated his day and expertise for ‘indoor’ patients, for their treatment and care. Besides the focused approach, Dr Deeptanshu is gravely aware of the personal and social threats that drugs and alcohol abuse presents. Adopting new and innovating practices remains Dr Deeptanshu’s resolve and vision. Dr Deeptanshu Agrawal has successfully adopted the new technique of Naltrenobe Implants with almost 100% success rates.
Treating patients with empathy and sensitivity goes a long way in building the patient-doctor relationship. Minimal dropout and relapse rates of Dr Deeptanshu’s patients by way of numbers is a clear indication of his abilities and skills.
“Earn your patient’s trust,” so said Dr Deeptanshu’s mentor at the medical college, and this young professional is geared to make that come true.
