Nasal Polyps –

• Soft, painless, non-cancerous growths in nose or sinuses
• Caused by chronic inflammation, allergy, or sinusitis
• Symptoms include nasal blockage, loss of smell, discharge, headache
• Diagnosed by endoscopy
• Treated with sprays, medicines, or surgery

Leads to exuberant granulation tissue filling the canal.
Usually bleeds on touch, soft, red, friable.

Five terminal branches
1. Temporal branch
• Muscles: Frontalis, orbicularis oculi (upper part), corrugator supercilii
• Function: Forehead wrinkling, eye closure (upper)
2. Zygomatic branch
• Muscles: Orbicularis oculi (lower part), zygomaticus
• Function: Eye closure, smiling
3. Buccal branch
• Muscles: Buccinator, orbicularis oris, levator labii superioris
• Function: Blowing, whistling, movements of upper lip
4. Marginal mandibular branch
• Muscles: Depressor anguli oris, depressor labii inferioris, mentalis
• Function: Lower lip movements
• Clinically important: vulnerable during submandibular surgery
5. Cervical branch
• Muscle: Platysma
• Function: Tensing skin of neck

Large polypoidal tonsils are an exophytic, lobulated enlargement of tonsillar tissue, most commonly due to chronic tonsillitis and lymphoid hyperplasia.

Management
• Tonsillectomy is both diagnostic and therapeutic
• Histopathological examination is mandatory

Early evaluation prevents missing serious pathology.
