डॉ. राम मनोहर लोहिया आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान में राष्ट्रीय पीएमआर दिवस हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया गया। विषय: "दिव्यांगता को होने से पहले रोकें"
लखनऊ, 5 जुलाई 2025 — डॉ. राम मनोहर लोहिया आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान (DrRMLIMS) के भौतिक चिकित्सा एवं पुनर्वास (PMR) विभाग द्वारा राष्ट्रीय पीएमआर दिवस बड़े जोश और उत्साह के साथ मनाया गया। इस वर्ष का विषय था “विकलांगता को होने से पहले रोकें”, जिसका उद्देश्य विकलांगता की रोकथाम और प्रारंभिक पुनर्वास की अहम भूमिका के प्रति जन-जागरूकता बढ़ाना था।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान विकलांगता जागरूकता एवं संवेदनशीलता कार्यक्रम, तथा पोस्टर निर्माण प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें मरीजों और पीएमआर स्टाफ ने सक्रिय भागीदारी दिखाई। इन गतिविधियों के माध्यम से यह संदेश दिया गया कि समय पर हस्तक्षेप से न केवल विकलांगता को रोका जा सकता है, बल्कि रोगी की कार्यक्षमता और स्वतंत्रता को भी बढ़ाया जा सकता है।

इस अवसर पर मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित प्रो. डॉ. ए.के. सिंह, अध्यक्ष, न्यूरोलॉजी विभाग एवं पूर्व CMS, DrRMLIMS ने सभा को संबोधित किया। उन्होंने प्रारंभिक पुनर्वास और विकलांगता की रोकथाम हेतु रणनीतियों की महत्ता पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने सुझाया कि जीवनशैली में सुधार कर, रक्तचाप और रक्त शर्करा को नियंत्रित रखना, दो/चार पहिया वाहन चलाते समय हेलमेट व सीट बेल्ट पहनना, जैसी सावधानियों से अनेक विकलांगताओं को रोका जा सकता है। डॉ. सिंह ने यह भी कहा कि समय पर पुनर्वास चिकित्सा से कार्यात्मक परिणामों में उल्लेखनीय सुधार किया जा सकता है और दीर्घकालिक विकलांगता के बोझ को कम किया जा सकता है।
प्रो. वी.एस. गोगिया, अध्यक्ष, पीएमआर विभाग ने बताया कि संस्थान के निदेशक प्रो. सी.एम. सिंह के आशीर्वाद से पीएमआर विभाग को अब अपना स्वयं का ऑपरेशन थिएटर (OT) आवंटित किया गया है, जिसमें अब सभी पुनर्वास व विकलांगता-संशोधन सर्जरी की जाएंगी। यह महत्वपूर्ण कदम पोलियो के बाद की कमजोरी, सेरेब्रल पाल्सी, क्लब फुट, आदि से प्रभावित रोगियों को विशेष सर्जरी सेवाएं सुलभ कराने में सहायक सिद्ध होगा।
यह आयोजन प्रो. वी.एस. गोगिया के कुशल मार्गदर्शन में, डॉ. यशवीर सिंह, सह आचार्य, द्वारा किया गया। कार्यक्रम विभाग के वरिष्ठ व कनिष्ठ रेज़िडेंट्स, स्टाफ, मरीजों और उनके परिजनों की सक्रिय सहभागिता के साथ संपन्न हुआ।
राष्ट्रीय पीएमआर दिवस का आयोजन DrRMLIMS में प्रारंभिक, रोगी-केंद्रित पुनर्वास और एक ऐसे भविष्य के प्रति विभाग की प्रतिबद्धता को रेखांकित करता है, जहाँ दिव्यांगता को प्रभावी ढंग से रोका और प्रबंधित किया जा सके।

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences Celebrates National PMR Day with the Theme:
Prevent Disability Before It Happens.
Lucknow, July 5, 2025 — The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (DrRMLIMS) celebrated National PMR Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The theme was Prevent Disability Before It Happens, focusing on raising awareness about disability prevention and the critical role of early rehabilitation.
The day’s events included disability awareness and sensitization programs, and a poster drawing competition, involving active participation from patients, their family members and PMR staff. These activities were aimed at educating attendees about the importance of early intervention in preventing disability and promoting functional independence.

The Chief Guest, Dr AK Singh, Head of the Department of Neurology and former CMS at DrRMLIMS, addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights into the importance of early rehabilitation and preventive strategies in disability care. Preventive strategies, suggested by Prof Singh included keeping the Blood Pressure and Sugar levels under control, through lifestyle changes, wearing Helmet, and Seat belts while riding/driving two/four wheelers. He emphasized that timely rehabilitation could dramatically improve functional outcomes and reduce the burden of long-term disability.
Prof VS Gogia, Head of the PMR Department, informed that with blessings of the Director, Prof (Dr) CM Singh, PMR Department at DrRMLIMS had been allotted Operation Theatre and now all rehabilitation and disability-correcting surgeries shall be conducted in the PMR Department Operation Theatre (OT) itself. This advancement is expected to greatly benefit numerous patients, specially those affected by post polio weakness, cerebral palsy, club foot, etc by making specialized surgical care more accessible within the department.
The celebration was conducted under the dynamic guidance of Prof VS Gogia by Dr Yesh Veer Singh, Associate Professor, PMR along with the dedicated involvement of senior and junior residents, and wholehearted support from the PMR staff, patients, and their family members.
The observance of National PMR Day at DrRMLIMS successfully highlighted the department’s commitment to early intervention, patient-centered rehabilitation, and a future where disability can be effectively prevented and managed.
