Trapezitis

Painful stiffness in the upper back/neck, commonly seen in people with bad posture or stress.

Causes:
β€’ Poor posture (prolonged computer or mobile use)
β€’ Stress and muscle tension
β€’ Sudden jerky neck/shoulder movements
β€’ Heavy weight carrying
β€’ Sleeping in awkward positions

Symptoms:
β€’ Pain in the neck and upper back region
β€’ Shoulder stiffness
β€’ Tenderness over trapezius muscle
β€’ Pain increases with stress, long sitting, or overhead activities
β€’ Sometimes headache radiating from the neck (tension-type headache)

Physiotherapy Management:
1. Rest & Postural correction – avoid triggers, correct workstation ergonomics.
2. Hot or cold packs – usually moist heat helps relax tight fibres.
3. Stretching & strengthening exercises – upper trapezius stretch, levator scapulae stretch, chin tucks, scapular retraction exercises.

3. Breathing Exercises
