Here’s a post from Dr Priya Shashank, the birth coach & Lactation consultant at Pal Hospital. Dr Priya Shashank is herself mother to a pre-teen girl.

Do you remember the time when you got your periods for the first time? I remember my time, and that I was worried I had injured myself, and too scared to tell anyone at home! Luckily I had an elder sister who sat me down and explained things lovingly, and told me I had nothing to be scared about! Well times are different now and kids learn a lot in school about their reproductive systems, still there are a few questions or doubts that remain unanswered…or sometimes a little girl just needs reassurance that all is well with her.
If you have a daughter in her pre-teens, bring her down for a ‘know your period’ one-on-one talk with me! I’ll help clear her doubts and make her understand and appreciate her own body and health better.
