Sri Guru Amar Das Hospital and Research Institute, a multispecialty hospital is aimed at providing a state-of-the art facility serving those who otherwise cannot afford medical care. Siri Guru Amar Das Ji was born in 1479 and established a unique institution of "Langar" (free community Kitchen) to serve as a symbol of universal brotherhood and equality for mankind regardless of caste or creed, race or color, rich or poor, high or low. The Baba Jaswant Singh Trust was established in its mission for alleviating misery by establishing a Hospital of World Class Medical Care in Punjab for ALL! Envisioned by the trust is a 300 bed hospital that is planned in the urban state of Ludhiana (Chandigarh Highway) in Punjab, India. The hospital is an extension of selfless service. Ludhiana is located in the industrial capital and geographical center of Punjab, however, it lacks sufficient health care facilities especially for the poor. This void is massive as people who do not have the finances cannot afford medical care.
