Obesity is a Fast Growing major Problem in Present times.Second most common cause of death from a modifiable behavioural risk factor.Long term implications are obvious from the fact that for every 10 kgs above normal Body weight,life expectancy is reduced by 3 years.Our first Support Group Meet on Obesity was held on 18th April 2009 at Dumra auditorium Dayanand Medical College & Hospital,Ludhiana.About 100 people attended the Meet and also the patients who had undergone treatment for obesity at our centre attended the meet and shared there experience how there Lifestyle was when they were obese and how they feel now after loosing 40-50% excess body weight &feeling absolutely great in Life .All medicines for Blood Pressure,Diabetes Mellitus,Thyroid were reduced & even stopped in most of the patients who were treated at our centre.We all attempt to loose weight but somehow we regain the lost weight which is known as weight cycling which is again a cause of obesity including,sedentary lifestyle,Excess diet intake,hormonal factors,Stressful life,Genetic Factors,Smoking for a period of time,most important of the above is our Attitude when we give up our attempts to loose excess weight and accept ourselves as we are.
