✨ Here’s why missing periods is not normal:
1️⃣ Hormonal imbalance
Irregular or absent periods often point towards disrupted hormones like estrogen, progesterone, insulin or thyroid hormones. Without correcting the root cause, your cycle won’t stabilise on its own.
2️⃣ Nutrient deficiencies
Low iron, B12, vitamin D, omega-3, or poor protein intake can directly affect your cycle. Your body prioritizes survival—not reproduction—when nutrients are low.
3️⃣ Stress & poor sleep
High cortisol suppresses reproductive hormones, leading to missed or delayed periods. Chronic stress + low sleep = a confused hormonal system.
4️⃣ Undereating or extreme dieting
Eating too little, skipping meals, or crash dieting signals “energy crisis.” Your body slows down reproductive functions to conserve energy.
5️⃣ PCOS or insulin resistance
One of the biggest reasons for irregular periods is unmanaged PCOS. Blood sugar fluctuations, high inflammation & poor gut health worsen the cycle further.
6️⃣ Thyroid issues
Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can disturb your menstrual cycle—yet many women ignore the signs for years.
7️⃣ Excessive exercise
Working out too hard with too little fuel can shut down your cycle completely (a common issue in women trying to “tone up”).
