National Cancer Awareness Day – 7th November (India)
National Cancer Awareness Day is observed on 7th November every year in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Dr. C.V. Raman and to remind citizens of the importance of early cancer detection and prevention.
In India, nearly 1.5 million new cancer cases are diagnosed annually, and over 60% present in advanced stages, where outcomes are poorer and costs are higher. The key to reversing this trend lies in awareness, screening, and lifestyle modification.
This day highlights the need to:
• Promote early screening for breast, cervical, oral, and colon cancers.
• Encourage to***co cessation, healthy diet, and physical activity.
• Ensure affordable access to cancer care in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
• Support cancer survivors and caregivers through counselling and rehabilitation.
Together, as clinicians, communities, and caregivers, we can move from fear to awareness, and from delay to early detection and cure.
Let’s pledge to build a Cancer-Aware India — where every life counts and every diagnosis finds hope.
