💜17 November is World Prematurity Day💜
💡 Did you know that 1 baby out of 10 is born preterm?
Every year, over 13 million babies worldwide are born too soon. Preterm birth often means long hospital stays for baby and parents, lots of worries, procedures and treatments, eventually discharge from hospital but possibly followed by long-term consequences for the baby’s health and further development. On a global scale, despite all the advances made in medicine, preterm birth is still the leading cause of death in children under 5 years of age.
👨👩👧👦 Therefore, on we raise awareness of the burden of preterm birth for babies, families, and healthcare professionals and systems. We celebrate these babies and their parents and send a message of gratitude to professionals. 👩⚕️👨⚕️
