World Hospice day

The MMHRC Hospice Centre at the Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre will observe Word Hospice Day on 11.10.14 at the hospital by focusing on this year’s theme ‘Who Cares? We Do!’

Of over 30 lakh patients who are at the end stages of their life, less than ten percent receive the necessary hospice care and support.

In this regard, MMHRC Hospice Centre, is making an open appeal to all individuals and corporates to show that they care, through their donations.

Since its inception a year ago, MMHRC Hospice Centre has provided care, understanding and support to over 200 patients fighting illnesses like Cancer, Alzheimers’, AIDS and Renal Failure.

Through your help, we aim to double this number this year.

National Blood Donors Day Celebration

Mr. Arivumathi the famous Tamil Cinema lyricist inaugurated the function by lighting the Kuthuvilakku in the presence of Dr. S. HEALTHCARE ON WHEELS

Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre has added an innovative service; “Healthcare on wheels”.

This novel tele-medicine bus will provide health services in rural areas where basic medical facilities and doctors are absent.

The vehicle can accommodate a healthcare team that includes doctors, imaging science technicians, lab technicians and nursing staff. The bus is fully equipped and furnished with a separate room for consultation, an examination table, laboratory, scan, X.ray (dark room), toilet, oxygen cylinder and digital equipment.

As a pilot run, the vehicle is currently operating in THONUGAL MM PURA scheme(Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas), which includes Thonugal and nearby villages. The hospital is planning to extent services to all the districts of Tamil Nadu in future. A nominal consultation fee is collected from the patients for the sustainability of the program.

The 'Healthcare on Wheels' vehicle was donated by Process Research Ortech Inc. Canada in association with Subavellai Charitable Trust, Thonugal and costs a little over 50 lakh rupees.
