Rev.S.Suyambu, Former General Secretary of YMCA Madurai and a great visionary leader was instrumental in transforming the service projects of YMCA Madurai into the best. He has served with dedication and commitment to provide quality education to the children with intellectual and hearing disabilities, orphans, poor children and women to give them a life with dignity.
He served as the General Secretary of YMCA Madurai from 1988 to 1991 and from 1993 to 2016 in an excellent manner. He was the architect of the service projects of YMCA Madurai and was very passionate about educating children with special needs, especially the hearing impaired children. He was an icon and legend in raising funds for the YMCA projects. He was also a mentor and guiding force to many YMCA Professional Secretaries across the country.
Rev.Suyambu has developed strong and sustained International partnerships with YMCA Madurai through his friends and the YMCAs abroad. Specially the YMCA of USA, CVJM- German YMCA, KFUM-KFUK- the Danish YMCA and YWCA, Netherlands, APAY, CBM and a number of friends through his fervent communication and integrity in implementing services. He encouraged International volunteers to come and serve at YMCA Madurai. Morethan 30 volunteers from YMCAs in Germany, Denmark and US have experienced his love and respect for the volunteers.
He was also the President of the Association of YMCA Secretaries in India from 2008 to 2011. He made a positive impact on the lives of many people and will be remembered by his good works. This great man is no longer with us today. With much grief, we inform you that Rev.S.Suyambu, was called to be with the Lord today (5th May 2026) at 9.50 am. His funeral service will be held tomorrow, 6th May 2026 morning at 10 am at the CSI Cathedral Church, Narimedu, Madurai.
His vision and dedication will be always in our mind. We will strive hard to achieve his dreams and vision for the less privileged, disabled and needy. We will miss you for ever Sir and we are hopeful that we will meet you again in God's presence. You will always be in our hearts❤️
