𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘮.
When a mom is talking to her friend for a minute, and her child decides to take off his shoes and run through the dirt. You don't have to come up to her and tell her that everyone was worried because he was alone and without shoes.
That doesn’t help.
𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘮.
When a mom is trying to calm her toddler on the mall floor flailing his legs and screaming, you don't have to give her weird looks and shake your head.
That doesn’t help.
𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘮.
When a mom is feeding her baby a bottle, you don’t have to come up to her and tell her all the benefits of breastfeeding.
That doesn’t help.
Because that mom is doing her best.
Maybe the mom with the child with dirty feet has been struggling all day with her son’s behavior and needed a second to vent.
Maybe the mom with a toddler having a tantrum over not getting a toy is just standing her ground.
Maybe the mom who's formula feeding couldn’t produce enough milk and is suffering from postpartum depression.
Realize that so many factors go into someone's decision-making process, and it's natural for different things to work for different people.
And if you shame a mom,
it WILL keep her awake all night.
Your voice echoing in her head,
forcing her to question whether she’s doing a good enough job as a mom.
And she has enough on her plate.
So 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘮.
