Mega Awareness Camp & Launch of “Hearing on Wheels”
on World Hearing Day 2024 (3rd March 2024)
Theme : Living with Deafness: An Invisible Disability

On World Hearing Day (3rd March 2024), Karnal Medical Centre organized an awareness camp and launched "Hearing on Wheels" to spread awareness about hearing health care. The camp educated people on hearing loss causes and prevention. Around 250 people attended the campaign. Dr. Sanjay Khanna highlighted on the impact of hearing loss and spoke on available treatments. He emphasized on assessing infants' hearing ability, especially for low birth-weight and premature babies. Cochlear Implantee children, operated at Karnal Medical Centre, performed on stage on various acts like dance, singing etc.

The "Hearing on Wheels" is a specially designed medical van equipped with facilities to conduct hearing screening tests and provide basic counselling on hearing health. This is the first such initiative in North India and can significantly impact hearing healthcare access locally. The “Hearing on Wheels” is equipped to conduct primary hearing test, OAE. The vehicle will travel to different communities and rural areas of Haryana. It aims to screen people and spread awareness. This will further increase the chances of early detection followed by treatment.

The camp organized on World Hearing Day and launch of this innovative healthcare vehicle model “Hearing on Wheels” laid the foundations for taking hearing healthcare to people's doorsteps.

We're proud to share that *Dr. Sanjay Khanna* was invited as surgical faculty at *Subharti Medical College, Meerut* in a full day surgical workshop. It's a great privilege and honor. He gave talk on Applications of Coblation in ENT and Head Neck Surgeries. Dr. Sanjay Khanna was honored and invited as a Faculty at *USAESCON* 2023 held at *AIIMS Rishikesh*. He gave a lecture during Session: Rhinology and Endo-Skull Base, on *"Sleep Disordered Breathing in Children."*

Snoring and Sleep Apnea in children is quite common. The early diagnosis and treatment is the key, so that the overall development of the child is normal. Snoring and mouth breathing can cause various abnormalities of teeth, palate, facial deformities and brain development.

A public awareness campaign on hearing was organized with the theme of Hearing Care for All. The campaign was in the form of CYCLOTHON on 28th February 2021, a cycle rally which was collaborated with Indian Medical Association, Karnal, India. Around 100 cyclists from various NGOs including doctors participated in the cyclothon.
A meeting with the District Administration and Health department was held on 2nd March 2021 wherein a presentation was given by Dr. Sanjay Khanna on World Hearing Day mentioning the importance of hearing in all age groups. The message was loud and clear and special stress was given on the following:

The Universal Neonatal Screening Program to be implemented in the Immunization records of newborns.

Early identification and treatment of hearing loss in all age groups.

To implement and outreach of the Cochlear Implant program.

The city and surrounding region will observe NO HORN day at least once a month.

Special mention on usage of mobiles leading to various phone hazards.
