Sorry I’ve been busy.

Busy becoming my own safe space.

Busy finding new parts of myself that are longing for my unconditional love.

Busy giving my inner child my total presence.

Busy creating spaces of freedom for my masculine and feminine.

Busy building a relationship with myself rooted in compassionate communication and radical acceptance.

Busy doing what is best for myself.

Busy exploration the expansions and contractions of life.

I know my posts are inconsistent, and I want to show up for you, but it is what it is. Life is too juicy and intense, and quite frankly, I’m forgetting Instagram.

But I also want to share a decade’s worth of experiences and discoveries in yoga, mental health and conscious transformation.

So I’ll try and show up more. But don’t say I didn’t warn you 😉

While everyone is rushing to put up gratitude posts before the year ends, I can’t help but acknowledge the collective injustice, rage and despair that is being felt worldwide.

The hyper-vigilance, lack of trust in authorities, the constant state of terror will leave its mark on people’s physical and mental health for decades (maybe generations) to come.

As a wounded healer and earthkeeper, it breaks my heart to feel the loss, the uncertainty, the helplessness and the grief with a crippling undercurrent of unsafety.

This one is for all that you have lost this year. To all the souls who have suffered in 2023, GIVE ME YOUR PAIN. Let me hold your worries, troubles and fears - while you take a moment to just breathe and be. You deserve to walk into a peaceful and safe 2024.

As for all those people who think Yogis are supposed to be calm, positive and peaceful - we’re not apathetic. I’m no one to pick sides or have an opinion, when I have no personal experience of the attrocities. I refuse to act self righteous or show only my good side for the sake of the gram.

P.s., I’m NOT here to fit your limited mould of how Yogis should be/feel/speak/act/dress/behave/exist. Your perception isn’t my problem.

TIMELINE:

Age 24 - I was on walking down Montmatre in the middle of November when something in my knee just snapped. The next morning I got out of bed, onto my feet, and then crumbled to the floor with knee pain. For the remainder of my Europe trip, I walked downhill/downstairs, backwards. It took 40 days for me to make it down a flight of stairs without pain.

Age 25 - On my way to Kanamo Peak, the last 2 kms to the summit was scree. Take one step forward, and slide two steps back. At one point, my knee locked so hard it felt like it would break. I remember thinking, “why is this happening to me? I’m a young, physically active Yoga teacher!”

Age 26 - I met a Yoga teacher randomly who noticed the heavy crackle in my knees each time I’d squat down and stand up. When he asked me about it, I told him my yoga teachers at the institute said that’s normal. To which he replied, “no it’s NOT. Not to this degree anyway.”

Age 27 - began the work to retrain my posture. By then I’d already noticed generationally absent core among my family members, as well as their pelvic tilt. Plus my hypermobility was causing rapid deterioration in bone density around the knee as well as reduction in fluid.

Age 28 - moved to the Himalayas and found a cute little cottage way up above Old Manali. My goal? To correct my pelvic tilt and train core through + find a safe space where I could let my old self die, and birth a new version of myself.

Age 31 - Knee pain no longer holds me back! Downhill trekking is way easier, and I have a holistic approach to daily recovery. There is now a deep awareness of my pelvis, and the connection between my knees and core. When I am moving without mindfulness, my knees communicate their limits. Somatic Safety is my gift to my body ❤️‍🔥

Recovery is a process and it takes consistency. Drop a 🙏🏾 in the comments if Yoga has supported your recovery too!

ARE YOU SITTING WRONG?
How your pelvis sits on a chair can either make or break your healthy posture.

Sitting with a pelvic tilt for long hours is a slow punishment to the spine, increasing chances of :
- Lower back pain
- Shoulder pain
- Neck pain
- Sciatica
- Knee pain
- Anxiety
- Stress

✨At the same time, a neutral pelvis while sitting can slowly begin to reduce physical and mental pain in all the same areas! ✨

Join our upcoming Pelvic Connection Workshop to reprogram your tilt, reset your pelvic/sexual health and reclaim safety in movement and stillness.

𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴?

Your resting pelvic tilt is causing more damage to your health than you think.

- spinal misalignments
- back pain
- knee and ankle pain
- loss of pelvic floor strength
- weak core muscles
- stress, anxiety, fear of change
- weak glutes
- period pain and poor sexual health
- PCOS and other hormonal imbalances

If you’ve been living with pain, it’s time you took a look in the mirror and see how your pelvis tilts when you stand and sit.

FYI, My resting pelvic tilt is anterior, and I consciously check in every now and then, both on and off the mat.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗲 - 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴

Breaking your comfort zone can be scary. There is so much uncertainty and then of course, there’s the ominous “unknown”! Isn’t it better to just stay the way I am, or let things be the way they are? I mean, it’s not great but it ain’t bad either, right?….

This past month has been about observing my physical/mental/emotional comfort zones and consciously+lovingly nudging myself to explore the unknown. So today I decided to challenge myself with my first ever Aerial Yoga class!

As a growth oriented person, I like to intentionally face fears in new ways to train my body and mind to evolve. I’m a dreamer who is determined to do what it takes for my visions to become reality.

If you’re feeling resistance today, I have something to say to you -
Never forget that you started walking the moment you decided to face your fear of falling - by falling! It’s only through falling that you learned HOW to walk. And now look at you!!! Walking while texting!

The invitation here to try doing 1 thing weekly that scares you! Challenge yourself, for you might just surprise yourself! And don’t forget to share your story with me!!

✨IT ALL STARTED WITH PRANA MUDRA✨

Back in 2018 I was backpacking in the Himalayas. One night, I stepped out rather late to get my dinner from Krishna Dhaba. The air was cold and the wind was biting. I felt my core temp drop and my whole body began to crumble down the central axis - knees buckling, spine curving, the whole shindig.

My hands were in my jacket pockets but my clothes weren’t made for this cold. And suddenly, inside my pockets, without my knowledge, my fingers did this (mudra in photo).

Suddenly, I began to feel this warmth spreading through my core and torso, radiating to my extremities. As my fingers thawed, I noticed they were holding this Mudra.

And that’s when the curiosity really kicked in. How could a shape made with my hands created such a strong shift in the body? Little did I know that finger mudras is just one of three types of mudras in Yoga.

As I became more mindful of what I want body was subconsciously doing, I noticed my hands naturally make a number of mudras that I didn’t even know, and the effect they had on the body-mind-breath.

In the last 3 years, I’ve used Mudras with my more serious (health problems) clients to accelerate, reprogram and revolutionise their recovery. The results were extraordinary! Be it age related neurodegeneration, urinary incontinence, severe digestive distress, anxiety, even partial paralysis - the results have been marvellous!

What’s your story with Mudras? How did they support you? And which is your go-to mudra?
