Button battery ingestion by a child is an emergency. Chemicals from Button batteries leaks in oesophagus (food pipe) or Stomach and causes ulcers, fistula or peritonitis.
At our advanced endoscopic centre in Sri Harihar Hospital recently a case of button battery ingestion in a 2 year old child was removed by emergency endoscopy procedure. This saved the child from surgery and further complications.
