H3N2 Influenza: What is it??

H3N2 is a subtype of Influenza A virus that usually circulates in pigs and has infected humans.

Is it Dangerous?

Currently, the severity of the H3N2 virus is similar to that of seasonal flu. However, even seasonal flu can be serious and lead to complications.

Wondered if H3N2 Virus could turn out to be another COVID-19?

Experts do not expect to see a massive wave like COVID-19, and it is not life-threatening in normal circumstances.

Wearing a mask and sanitizing your hands is one of the best defenses against the H3N2 virus.

Symptoms of H3N2 Influenza

Symptoms of H3N2 infection are similar to those of seasonal flu, which include:

Fever

Respiratory Symptoms (Cough and Runny Nose)

Body Aches

Nausea & Vomiting

Diarrhea

The H3N2 virus was circulating in pigs in 2010 and was first detected in humans in 2011.?

It can spread easily from an infected person through infected droplets via air, direct contact, or surfaces.

Who are at Higher Risk of H3N2 Influenza?

Children < 5 years

Adults > 65 years old

Pregnant people

People with certain long-term health conditions (asthma, diabetes, heart disease, weakened immune systems, and neurological conditions)

People at higher risk of flu-related complications are more at a higher risk of developing serious complications from H3N2v infection.

Is there any Treatment for H3N2 Influenza?

Your doctor may prescribe the same antiviral drugs used to treat seasonal flu in both children and adults.

Early treatment works best and is especially important for people with other higher-risk conditions.

If you are prescribed antiviral drugs by your doctor, it is recommended to complete the course as per the doctor’s instructions.

H3N2 Influenza: Preventive Tips

Maintaining proper hygiene

Avoid crowded places

Wear a mask in public

What happens when you don't drink adequate amount of water...

Minerals and salts circulating through your kidneys will precipitate resulting in kidney stones and also may cause permanent damage to the kidneys. It causes the build-up of wastes and acids in the body, which can clog the kidneys with muscle proteins (myoglobin).
Kidney stones form less easily when you have enough water to prevent stone-forming crystals from sticking together.

Here is an image of extreme case of kidney stones, could be attributed to metabolic disorders, obstruction and mainly dehydration.
