Are you stuck in a cycle of toxic relationships—but not sure why it keeps happening?

You're not alone. And no, it’s not your fault.

Toxic relationships often begin with hope, connection, and charm… but over time, they spiral into pain, confusion, and emotional exhaustion.

This cycle might feel like a mystery—but it actually has deep roots.

💔 Here’s what might be going on beneath the surface:

👉 The Trauma Effect:
Unhealed trauma—especially from childhood—can create a blueprint for what feels familiar. If you’ve been used to emotional chaos or neglect, your nervous system might start confusing that with love. You might unconsciously recreate what you once survived.

👉 Low Self-Esteem:
When you struggle with self-worth, you may tolerate poor treatment, over-give to keep the peace, or accept crumbs in exchange for connection. You might even believe that toxic behavior is the best you can get.

👉 Fear of Abandonment:
Sometimes the fear of being alone feels more unbearable than the pain of staying in a harmful relationship. So you stay—hoping it’ll get better, fearing the emptiness that might come with leaving.

🌿 But the good news? You can break the cycle. One step at a time.

Here are some powerful ways to start:

✅ Step 1: Recognize Your Red Flags
Start a “red flag journal.” Write down moments that make you feel small, confused, or unsafe. This practice will help you trust your gut again.

✅ Step 2: Set & Practice Healthy Boundaries
Say “no” in small, everyday situations. Let yourself feel uncomfortable—it’s part of learning. You can even role-play with someone you trust to build confidence.

✅ Step 3: Reclaim Your Self-Worth
Start a daily affirmation like: “I deserve love and respect.”
Celebrate even your smallest wins. Your worth isn’t based on others’ treatment of you—it lives within you.

✅ Step 4: Seek Healing & Support
Some patterns are deeply wired by trauma. Therapy and safe, nonjudgmental spaces can help you heal old wounds and rewrite your relationship blueprint.

✨ You deserve a relationship that feels safe, mutual, and loving.

If you’re ready to break free from toxic cycles, this is exactly what I help my clients work through—gently and at their own pace.

Do unexpected anxiety attacks leave you feeling on edge?

Trauma might be the hidden trigger.

Many people don’t realize this—but unresolved trauma can leave a lasting imprint on our nervous system. In social or intimate settings, even small, everyday moments can reawaken past hurt.

When that happens, your body reacts as if danger is near—your thoughts race, your heart pounds, and you might suddenly feel isolated, even in a room full of people.

So what can you do about it?

Here are a few grounding techniques that can help calm your nervous system and bring you back to the present when anxiety strikes:

🌿 Sensory Bookmark:
Carry a small, personal object—a smooth stone, a pendant, or even a soft fabric. When you feel overwhelmed, hold it and focus on its texture, weight, and color. Let it serve as your anchor.

🤗 Rhythmic Self-Hug:
Wrap your arms around yourself and gently squeeze in rhythm with your heartbeat. This simple act of self-touch can signal safety to your nervous system and create a sense of calm.

🎨 Color & Breath Synchronization:
Choose a calming color around you—like a soft blue or green. As you breathe in, imagine this color filling you with peace. As you exhale, release the tension. It’s a visual and sensory way to reconnect with your body.

These aren’t just techniques—they’re invitations to reconnect with your sense of safety.

Take a moment to try them out. See which one feels right for you.
..➡ If anxiety and trauma-related overwhelm are a regular part of your life, you don’t have to walk this path alone. This is exactly what I help my clients with in therapy.

WhatsApp us the word “Therapy” if you’re ready for support.

Abusive relationships create a cycle of intense highs and lows, much like an addiction.

You get a rush of good feelings ("love bombing"), then a crash ("withdrawal").

This rollercoaster of emotions messes with our brain chemistry, making it incredibly difficult to break free.

You're not alone. ❤️ Many people experience this, and it's okay to feel confused and lost.

Here's the thing: You don't have to understand the science to know you deserve better.
Healing is possible. ✨

Here are a few things that can help:

⭐ Recognize the signs: Pay attention to patterns of abuse, like love bombing, gaslighting, and isolation.

⭐ Seek support: Talk to a therapist, join a support group, or confide in a trusted friend.

⭐ Prioritize self-care: Engage in activities that bring you joy and help you reconnect with yourself.

Remember, you are worthy of love and respect. ❤️

Do you struggle to trust and be vulnerable in love? Your past trauma might be holding you back.

Unresolved trauma from childhood or past relationships can build invisible walls that stop you from experiencing true intimacy.

I’ve been there—protecting myself felt safe, but it kept genuine connection at bay. Sometimes, our past leads us to avoid closeness or to fear abandonment, causing us to overthink every caring gesture and choose partners who confirm our doubts.

So, what can you do about it? Here are some tips that can help transform your approach to love:

👉 Mindful Vulnerability: Start small by sharing a bit of your inner self with someone you trust. Think of it as gently opening a window to your emotions.

👉 Creative Somatic Expression: Use creative outlets—like art, movement, or dance—to express and process feelings that words alone can’t capture.

👉Trauma-Informed Support: Working with a therapist who understands trauma can help you safely explore vulnerability and reframe those negative beliefs.

Healing takes time, but every step brings you closer to genuine intimacy and connection. Embrace your story—it's a vital part of your growth.

↣ If you’re struggling with trust, vulnerability, or feeling secure due to past trauma—this is exactly what we can help you with.

We have a few slots available next month for 1:1 support.

Send "Therapy" on our WhatsApp and let’s begin your journey toward healing together.

Have you ever wondered why trauma impacts some people more deeply than others?

I used to struggle with overwhelming pain and often asked myself, "Why am I feeling this way?" Over time, I learned that our unique responses to trauma depend on several factors:

⭐ Resilience:
Think of resilience as your inner shield. Some of us naturally bounce back, while others must nurture this strength through daily self-care. Every act of kindness toward yourself builds that protective layer.

⭐ Support Systems:
Remember those moments when a friend or family member simply listened? That support can soften even the harshest of emotional blows. Feeling understood and valued creates a safe space for healing.

⭐ Past Experiences:
Our early memories—both joyful and painful—shape how we react to new challenges. Recognizing your personal history helps explain your responses and opens the door to growth.

Understanding these factors has allowed me to view my own healing journey with compassion. I learned that when I embrace my story—my resilience, my support, and even my past—I unlock the power to heal and grow.

What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself through your healing journey?

Trauma can slowly chip away at your self-confidence, leaving you with that nagging feeling of “I’m not enough.” Over time, these doubts seep into our relationships, causing us to question our worth and making it hard to fully connect with those we love.

How Does Low Self-Esteem Affect Your Relationship?

👉 Doubt & Insecurity: You might constantly seek reassurance, wondering if you truly deserve love.

👉 Misreading Love: Caring gestures may feel like pity, reinforcing feelings of unworthiness.

👉 Settling for Less: Believing you're not worthy can lead you to accept unhealthy behaviour.

👉 Jealousy & Fear: Anxiety about being abandoned can make you overly suspicious.

👉 Holding Back: Fear of vulnerability builds invisible walls that keep true intimacy at bay.

If these sound familiar, know that you’re not alone—and there are ways to rebuild your self-worth.

Here Are Some Strategies to Transform Your Self-Esteem and Relationships:

⭐ Create Your Strengths Collage: Gather images, quotes, and words that celebrate your unique strengths. Display this collage somewhere visible as a daily reminder of your worth.

⭐ Empowerment Walk & Voice Affirmation: Take a mindful walk and record your own voice affirming your value. Say things like, “I am worthy” or “I have so much to offer.” Listening to your own empowered voice can help rewire negative self-talk.

⭐ Gratitude Exchange with Your Partner: Set aside a few minutes each day to share one thing you appreciate about each other. This isn’t just gratitude—it’s a powerful way to recognize your strengths and deepen your connection.

Ultimately, while these tools are powerful, true transformation comes from healing our deeper wounds. Working on your inner child and addressing past traumas is essential for rebuilding genuine self-worth and fostering more fulfilling relationships.

The Deeper Impact of Anxiety on Relationships

Have you ever felt emotionally distant from your partner, even when you’re physically close? Anxiety can be a silent barrier in long-term relationships—it can slowly build emotional walls, making you feel misunderstood and disconnected.

How Does Anxiety Affect Your Relationship?

◾Overthinking: Simple messages or actions can spiral into worries about disinterest or rejection.

◾Fear of Rejection: Anxiety may make you hold back your true feelings, fearing that vulnerability might hurt you.

◾Emotional Walls: Unresolved anxiety can lead to subtle distancing, so you and your partner might drift apart over time.

Here Are three Actionable Tips to Reconnect:

👉 Identify & Share Your Triggers: Write down what specifically makes you anxious—like delayed texts or a particular tone—and share these feelings with your partner using “I” statements. This clarity helps reduce misunderstandings.

👉 Set Up Regular ‘Check-In’ Moments: Carve out a weekly time to talk about your feelings. A brief, focused conversation (say, over coffee) can turn anxious moments into opportunities to understand each other better.

👉 Practice Reflective Listening: Try journaling your anxious thoughts before discussing them. Sharing these and then having your partner paraphrase what they heard can ensure you both feel truly understood.

Imagine feeling more connected, secure, and truly understood by your partner. Picture turning anxiety into opportunities for growth, rebuilding trust, and breaking down emotional walls to create a lasting, loving bond.

You can achieve this with the right tools and guidance.

At Turtle Balance. I use Experiential Therapy—a unique, hands-on approach that helps you not only talk about your feelings but also experience healing in real-time.

Did you know that trauma often hides behind chronic anxiety?

Unresolved experiences can make your body stay on high alert, always preparing for threats that no longer exist.

Anxiety from trauma can feel like:
👉 A racing heart when nothing seems wrong.

👉 Difficulty concentrating, feeling overwhelmed in simple situations.

👉Avoiding people or places that remind you of past pain.

But there’s hope. Healing from trauma is a journey, and anxiety is not your destination—it’s a signal that your mind and body need care.

Here’s how you can start easing that anxious mind:

🌱 Ground yourself in the present:
Place your hand on your chest, close your eyes, and take three deep breaths. Remind yourself, “I am safe right now.”

🌱 Visualize safety:
Picture a place or memory that feels peaceful and comforting. Use this visualization when anxiety rises.

🌱 Practice self-compassion:
Instead of blaming yourself for how you feel, remind yourself that anxiety is your body’s way of trying to protect you. You deserve kindness, not criticism.

Healing takes time, but you don’t have to do it alone.

At Turtle Balance, we use Experiential Therapy, a powerful approach that goes beyond traditional talk therapy to help you:

👉 Understand the root of your anxiety

👉 Feel safe in your own body again

👉 Build resilience and lasting emotional strength

This Self Care Sunday, let's harness the power of music to boost our mood and set a positive tone for the week ahead!

Here's the plan:

👉 Create a Power Playlist: Think songs that make you feel strong, confident, and ready to take on the world! Maybe it's a song with awesome lyrics, a catchy beat, or just one that brings back happy memories.

👉 Turn Up the Volume: Play your playlist during your morning routine. Whether you're getting ready, making breakfast, or enjoying your morning coffee, let the music fill the air.

👉 Feel the Vibe: Pay attention to how the music makes you feel. Does it lift your spirits? Give you energy? Notice the difference it makes in your mood and motivation.

Why does this work? Music is a fantastic tool for managing our emotions and boosting our confidence. It can:

● Lift our mood
● Reduce stress
● Boost motivation

So, this Self-Care Sunday, give the power of music a try!

This week's self-care practice is all about reconnecting with your physical self through a body scan meditation.

Here's how:

1) Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down.

2) Close your eyes and bring your attention to your breath.

3) Slowly scan your body, starting from the top of your head and moving down to your toes.

4)Notice any sensations: tingling, warmth, tightness, tension.

5) When you encounter tension, gently breathe into that area, visualizing the tension melting away with each exhale.

Even 10 minutes of this practice can have a profound impact on your mental and emotional state.

Our bodies often store the stress we don't consciously acknowledge, leading to physical discomfort and emotional imbalances.

By tuning in and releasing this tension, we create space for inner peace and clarity.

Give it a try today and observe how your body feels afterwards.

Did you notice a shift in your mood or energy levels? Share your experience in the comments! 👇

06/01/2025

What does it mean to actually ‘heal’ from trauma? Let me share where it begins.

Healing is not a straight path, nor is it about forgetting your pain.

For me, it began with acknowledging the emotions I worked so hard to suppress—sadness, anger, fear, even guilt.

It felt overwhelming at first. Old memories resurfaced, and I wasn’t sure I could handle it.

But here’s what I discovered: healing starts with allowing yourself to feel. To sit with those emotions and say, “This is hard, but I’m here for myself.”

Then came the process of reframing my story. I had to remind myself, “This happened to me, but it does not define me.” Slowly, I began finding moments of strength and joy.

Healing also meant accepting help. Therapy became my safe space—a place where I could process these feelings without judgment. It helped me find clarity, develop resilience, and truly start to rebuild my life.

But here’s a gentle warning: this process can be triggering. It’s okay to take it slow. Healing is not a race—it’s about progress, not perfection. If things feel overwhelming, pause, breathe, and seek support.

🌱 Healing is possible for you too. You are not your trauma. You are who you choose to become from this moment forward.

If you found this post meaningful, share it with someone who might need to hear it. Let’s keep spreading hope and healing. 💛

Warmly,
Mita 🌸

In this busy & stressful life, especially when dealing with trauma or anxiety, rest often takes a backseat.

We push ourselves, striving to achieve, to heal, to be "strong." But true strength comes from recognizing when we need to pause and recharge.

This Self-Care Sunday, I invite you to embrace intentional rest.

It's not just about collapsing on the couch (though that's definitely allowed!). It's about consciously choosing activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul.

➡ Maybe it's a long bath with calming essential oils...

➡ Maybe it's losing yourself in a favorite book...

➡ Maybe it's getting lost in a captivating show and binge-watching the day away...

➡ Maybe it's a gentle yoga flow or a guided meditation...

➡ Maybe it's simply allowing yourself an afternoon nap without guilt...

Listen to your body's whispers. What does it truly need today?

Remember, rest is not a luxury; it's a necessity. It's an act of self-love, a crucial part of healing, and the foundation for building healthy relationships.

When you prioritize your well-being, you create space for emotional processing, reduce anxiety, and show up as the best version of yourself for those you love.

So, give yourself permission to unwind today. Release the guilt, embrace the stillness, and feel the restorative power of intentional rest.

How will you recharge today? Share your favourite rest-day activity in the comments below and inspire others to do the same! 💖

With warmth,
Mita 🌸
