Start by diving your work into 3 main categories:
-Work that needs to be done as it shows up like attending to patients without appointments or responding to emergencies. These need immediate attention and there is not much you can plan ahead of time
-Work that is time-sensitive like patient appointments, planned procedures, meetings are all related to specific days and times
-Work that needs to be done ASAP but is not really time-sensitive. Some tasks need to be completed and you can fit it into gaps you have available like admin tasks that you can put on a to-do list not a calendar

Take the time to look at your schedule and how you can properly manage it so that you can better balance work and personal commitments. This helps to prevent burnout by giving you a break from work stress so that you can recharge and when the next day comes, you will be able to tackle it better.

Characteristics of A Person With Healthy Boundaries

-They are able to say no without being being guilty or afraid they'll lose friends or family members when they don't want to do something that makes them uncomfortable or unhappy
-They have good self-esteem and self-confidence which allows them to set limits on how others treat them
-They do jot allow others to treat them poorly or disrespectfully as they understand that how someone treats you reflects more on them than it does on you
-They recognize their own needs as well as the needs of others and they work together with others to ensure that everyone gets what they need without diminishing anyone else's needs in the process
-They are not afraid of conflict or confrontation, instead they see it as an opportunity for growth and change within themselves or other people involved in the conflict. They know how to handle conflict in ways that are constructive so that everyone can learn from their mistakes and not repeat them

Family members may be a source of stress because they often want more from you than you can give. So, although it is important to help them, it's also important to not burn out trying to please everyone
-Friends care about you and want what's best for you, but they don't always know what that is
-You need to be able to say no when your co-workers ask for help as it may not be possible to be at your best when you have too much on your plate
-If a patient want more from you than you are comfortable giving, then it is time to set a boundary by saying it is not part of your job description as a healthcare professional
