We strongly condemn the inappropriate and derogatory remarks by former YSRCP MLA Rachamallu Shivaprasad Reddy against the Unani system of medicine and the Government Unani Medical College and Hospital. This institution was first sanctioned for Rayachoty town through the efforts of former four-time MLA and Whip Srikanth Reddy. Unfortunately, administrative lapses delayed it, and now the TDP Health Minister has diverted it—much like district headquarters diversions by the TDP government.Unani medicine boasts centuries of history and forms the foundation of modern medicine's growth; its literature clearly shows modern roots trace back to Unani. Mr. Reddy, your insufficient knowledge and poor sources led to degrading this officially recognized system by both Central and State Governments. A simple Google search would have informed you properly.Your YSRCP government neglected AYUSH, submitting no proposals to the AYUSH Ministry for new projects except Rayachoty—despite abundant Central funds available. Note that the WHO established its first Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat, promoting evidence-based natural medicine. The Medicinal Plants and Aromatic Board supports cultivation, with 22 Central research institutions and 57 Unani colleges/hospitals under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine. Unani is promoted by India's Ministry of AYUSH, serving millions globally and in India.As a public representative, speaking like a layman shames you. Your baseless comments insult the AYUSH Ministry, slap Central government initiatives, and undermine lakhs of annual beneficiaries via government Unani hospitals and dispensaries across states.The entire AYUSH fraternity condemns your statement as incompetent political rivalry. We demand immediate withdrawal, an unconditional apology, and that you refrain from such irresponsible remarks. Public representatives must uphold etiquette, media decorum, and democratic values—regardless of party.We oppose any action undermining Unani medicine's dignity. Since Independence, no government advanced AYUSH like the BJP; facts are facts, not blind loyalty.
