Covid 19,apart from the sufferings , brought many changes, especially, in our day to day working and teaching. Work from home and online teaching are some of the concepts adopted by us. Though we were conducting yoga classes on a very few occasions earlier,
most of the classes are now held by us online.

In view of the continued cases of covid infection we prefer to continue conducting more of yoga classes online.

Our preference is to teach yoga for health management and the classes are held on an individual basis.

A perfect explanation on”Om”

“If properly pronounced, this Om will represent the whole phenomenon of sound production, and no other word can do this, therefore, is the fittest symbol of the sphota, which is the real meaning of Om. ,And as the symbol can never be separated from the thing signified, the Om and sphota are one. And as the sphota, being the finer side of the manifest universe, is nearer to God and is indeed the first.”

This is what I have understood from the teachings of my yoga masters.
“There are two entities in this universe- microcosm and macrocosm. Each individual is a microcosm and the entire universe is the macrocosmic entity. Each human is a speck in this vast and unimaginably huge universe. But each human being is complete by him or herself. Whatever is in the universe is with in a human being in a miniature form and he is mighty when he knows this reality.
As universe is made up of these small microcosms there is a bond between a human being a microcosm and the other things and subjects in this universe. As a human being I am a part which has made this universe. Therefore do good to others and consider them as yourself. Whatever you do either good or bad will ultimately come back to you.”

The COVID-19 virus has created a problem of big proportions in the world and people are in utter confusion. The scientists, doctors and the governments in various countries are making sincere efforts to tackle this problem. Let these efforts continue. In the meantime we can make our immunity system strong and improve our health by various options available elsewhere.
The Indian medicine system Ayurveda has consistently helped the humanity to keep good health and come out of health problems by its unique way by prescribing medicinal preparations made of various herbs, plants and roots. This system has been helping the humans from the time immemorial.
Ayurveda also has prescribed the way we have to live and the diet suitable for us to be healthy physically, mentally and beyond.
We also find various practices and suggestions in yogic science to improve our immunity and continue to have good health.
Along with the modern medicinal approach it would be beneficial for all of us if we adopt these time tested systems of Ayurveda and yoga to come out of the present problem of COVID 19.

Happy International yoga day. I congratulate our beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for giving importance to yoga at the international level. On this occasion I intend to write about the similarity between yoga and Ayurveda.

As I understand the basic principles are same for both Yoga and Ayurveda. In both systems we find the treatment is not restricted to physical body but beyond that towards the mind, intellect and the subtle elements of the human being. Each system is complimentary to one another.

Both the above systems are developed in India by a lineage of Rishi- munis and is in practice from a long time. Therefore it is ideal that we give equal importance to both the systems.

In Ayurveda we find a section advising us to follow the daily routine to have good health. This is known as ‘Dinachari’ and ‘Rutuchari’ ‘Dinachari’ is about the day to day practices to be followed and ‘Rutuchari’ advises us to the practices we have to follow during each season.

Regular practice of yoga and following the principles of the above Ayurveda system helps us to have good health and brings down our expenditure on hospital care to a great extent.

I very much appreciate our honourable Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi’s invitation to Ayush practitioners to help the people at this time of worldwide crisis,I feel it is a step in the right direction.
India is known as a teacher to the world for its knowledge of Ayurveda and yoga propagated by our great Himalayan Saints. There is abundance of knowledge in our system.

As a yoga teacher in the profession for over 23 years I have seen results with my students from cleansing practices as envisaged by the yogis. Regular practice of laghu shankaprakshalana, Kunjal and neti will definitely help the practitioner to face the korona virus. A person already suffering from the virus will not be able to do these practices. But for others it definitely helps to reduce the mucous and in strengthening the immunity of the body. Likewise there are asanas and pranayama techniques to improve the immunity. Along with the modern medicine we should have the right attitude to search for the practices within our ancient system to face the crisis. Ultimately our aim is to come out of the present problem.

It is advisable to learn the practices from a qualified yoga teacher who would know the suitability of the practices to a person.

Regular practice makes a person perfect in any field of discipline or practice. No exception to this in Yoga practices also. About an hour of routine practice of yoga goes a long way in having good health through out our life. In this respect I always remember one of my yoga teachers who was always advising us to imbibe upon our yoga students to practice yoga regularly. His saying was that one hour of yoga practice is an investment we make as an insurance for a life long of good health and well being.
We always blame lack of time to discontinue the yoga practices. It is not an excuse. We spend a lot of our time to watch facebook and WhatsApp, wherein, the information we get is inconsequential to the time we spend. Time is precious and let us ensure that the prime time of yoga doesn’t go waste for unwanted things.
