World Schizophrenia Day 2024
World Schizophrenia Awareness Day, observed on May 24th every year, aims to raise public awareness about schizophrenia and to reduce the stigma associated with the condition.
The theme for this year is *“Celebrating the Power of Community Kindness.”* The campaign aims to foster empathy and support for such patients.
To commemorate this day District mental health program is organising Schizophrenia awareness program
at Candolim PHC at 10.30 am
On 24th May 2024
Lets join our hands as a community to dispel the stigma and spread awareness about mental health disorders.

World mental health day is observed every year on 10th October with aim to create awareness among people about different mental illness and importance of good mental health
District mental health program conducted an awareness program at state institute of Health and Family Welfare Mapusa.
The program was graced by Chief Guest honourable deputy speaker and MLA of Mapusa constituency Mr Joshua Desouza

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse.

The aim of this year’s theme - 'People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention' is to raise awareness about the importance of treating people who use drugs with respect and empathy; offering alternatives to punishment; prioritizing prevention; and leading with compassion.

District Mental Health Program organised a training program for medical officers and nursing staff of Directorate of Health Services on Substance Use Disorder and it's management.
Participants were given training on multiple aspects of substance use including :
1.Understanding substance use disorder and management- Dr. Gaurav Haldankar, consultant Psychiatrist, Telemanas Mentoring Institute
2.Nursing approach in practical management- Dattaram Kanolkar, staff nurse, Addiction Treatment Facility, NDH
3. Psychosocial Interventions- Dashmi Mandrekar, Counselor Addiction Treatment Facility, NDH

World schizophrenia day is commemorates every year on 24th may.
It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about a mental illness.
Schizophrenia is highly stigmatized since it’s not talked about and lacks accurate representation in the media. World Schizophrenia Awareness Day was created to fight against stigma and to make it easier for people to seek different resources to get help.
District Mental Health Program North Goa conducted awareness activity at Neura Panchayat Ghar. Awareness about early symptoms and signs of schizophrenia , and treatment options available.
