In My Oxford Year, caregiving emerges as a quiet but powerful theme, showing how love, presence, and small acts of support can carry someone through the hardest moments. Caregiving isn’t only about sacrifice; it’s also about connection, resilience, and allowing ourselves to both give and receive care. 🌿✨

A reminder that tending to others begins with tending to ourselves. 💛

Going back to the basics 🌿📖

Every now and then, I find myself re-reading the classics that lay the foundation of our profession. As we grow, learn new therapies, and attend fresh trainings, it feels grounding to return to the roots.

The core principles of counseling and psychotherapy remind us why we do this work — to hold space, to listen, and to heal. ✨❣️

What are the classics you return to when you need grounding?

Not all trauma looks like what we imagine.

It can show up as chronic fatigue, difficulty sleeping, irritability, physical pain, people-pleasing, numbness, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

These are not flaws, they are signs of how your body and mind have learned to survive.

Healing begins when we acknowledge what’s hidden and offer ourselves compassion. You are not broken.

We’ve all heard of FOMO, but have you heard of FOBI, the fear of being included?

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t being left out, but allowing ourselves to belong. 🌿

Welcome to Part 2 of using the Worry Tree — this time, we’re focusing on practical worries — the kind that are real, current, and within our control.

These are worries that often sound like:
“Did I submit that form?”
“What if I’m late for the meeting?”
“Will I be able to pay that bill?”

Unlike hypothetical worries, these ones benefit from action. When we identify that a worry is real and solvable, the next step is to make a plan, break it into small steps, and take one small action — even if it’s just writing it down.

🌱 Action brings clarity. Worry thrives on avoidance.

If you find yourself worrying often, and those worries start to feel unmanageable, the “worry tree” can be a powerful tool to help you make sense of it all. 🌿

Sharing here Part 1 of using the worry tree — where we explore how to deal with hypothetical worries (the “what ifs” and worst-case scenarios we tend to spiral into).

When a worry isn’t about something happening right now, but something that might happen, your best support is grounding, calming the nervous system, and gently redirecting the mind.

Let’s learn to pause, reflect, and respond — not react.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll look at worries that are based in the present and need action 💛

Chronic pain isn’t just physical; stress can silently fuel it.

When we’re constantly in fight-or-flight mode, our nervous system stays tense, making pain more intense and harder to manage. Understanding this mind-body connection is key to healing.

If you’re living with chronic pain, addressing emotional stress is just as important as physical care.

You deserve support, not silence.
