The Indian Army's medical standards are stringent, and candidates may be declared unfit for a variety of medical reasons during recruitment. Here are the main medical rejection points:

General Conditions:

1. Height & Weight: Failing to meet the required height or weight standards, which vary based on age and region.

2. Chest Measurements: Insufficient chest expansion (minimum 5 cm expansion required).

3. Body Mass Index (BMI): Candidates with a BMI beyond the acceptable range may be rejected.

Musculoskeletal Issues:

1. Knock Knee (Genu Valgum): If the knees touch while standing straight with feet apart, the candidate may be disqualified.

2. Flat Foot (Pes Planus): The absence of a normal arch in the feet can lead to rejection.

3. Cubitus Valgus: Deformity at the elbow, where the arm deviates away from the body beyond the normal angle.

4. Scoliosis: Abnormal curvature of the spine.

5. Kyphosis: Excessive outward curvature of the spine, causing hunching of the back.

6. Swan Neck Deformity: Hyperextension of joints.

7. Funnel Chest (Pectus Excavatum): A condition where the chest appears sunken or hollow.

8. Pigeon Chest (Pectus Carinatum): Protrusion of the chest wall.

9. Polydactyly: Extra fingers or toes.

10. Varicose Veins: Swollen and twisted veins, usually in the legs.

11. Short Limb Syndrome: Significant limb length discrepancy.

Ophthalmological (Eye) Issues:

1. Vision: Candidates must meet specific vision standards (6/6 or 6/9 vision without glasses). Spectacles or corrective surgery may lead to disqualification.

2. Color Blindness: Difficulty in distinguishing between colors.

3. Squint: Misalignment of the eyes.

1. Hearing Loss: Difficulty hearing normal conversational speech or any signs of deafness.
