A 30-year-old female patient reported to the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology with a chief complaint of a burning sensation in her right and left buccal mucosa while eating food. The patient was asymptomatic 2 years back when she started feeling the burning sensation in her right and left buccal mucosa. Initially, the intensity of sensation was low and has aggravated with time. The patient started feeling pain while opening the mouth which aggravated with time and ended up with reduced mouth opening.
On clinical examination, fine white striae associated with the peripheral erythematous zone are seen bilaterally. A reduced mouth opening is present. White keratotic lesions are seen on the alveolar ridge of the maxilla.
Medical history revealed that the patient is suffering from gastritis and constipation.
Dental history revealed that the patient is a denture wearer which is faulty and irritates the buccal mucosa continuously.
On further evaluation, the patient was provisionally diagnosed with Erosive Lichen Planus.
The patient is managed with topical and systemic steroids initially and follow-up of 15 days.
