3 doshas mentioned in Ayurveda
In very simple terms - Vata, Pitta and Kapha
Ayurveda says that there are total 3 doshas in our body. These doshas are vata, pitta and kapha. These doshas are not at all vices or bad things in the body.
These doshas are present in everyone's body and they do their work.
Many organs as well as flesh cells, bones etc. Many things come together to form a body. These body things have to be worked properly
As in a computer there are many things together. The work of coordinating between them and doing the desired work is done by some software in that computer. Without the software or operating system, nothing in that computer can be used. It is the same in our body.
Doshas are responsible for doing the right thing at the right time by coordinating the things in the body.
Each dosha has its own qualities and has a specific amount in the body.
Like coldness, dryness, lightness etc. in Vaat.
Hotness, greasiness, sharpness, etc. in Pitta.
Stickiness, coldness, greasiness etc. in the Kapha.
The body remains healthy only if each dosha works in proper proportion with its own virtues
If the doshas are reduced or increased, various disorders arise. Also, even if the qualities of a dosha are changed, the functioning of the body is disturbed.
Such as weakening of bones, increase in pain, constipation, sleep disorder etc. Happens due to increase or deterioration of vata dosha.
Pitta causes body heat, loss of digestive power, headache, acidity etc.
Laziness, excessive sleepiness, heaviness of head due to Kapha,
What causes these defects to worsen?
There can be many reasons behind this. Some of those reasons are given below.
1) Wrong diet
2) Sleep timings
3) Not exercising or overdoing it
4) anxiety
5) External environment
6) Wrong routine
How to fix dosha? For this, a thorough examination of the patient is necessary. One, two or all three doshas may be impaired in each vikra. Depending on how bad the defect is, the treatment varies.
Diet restrictions, Medicines and Panchkarma are usefull.
