💫 A Rare Kidney-Saving Surgery – Pyelovesicostomy Success Story! 💫
Meet Mr. Jassa Singh, a 50-year-old patient with an ectopic kidney located in the pelvic region. He had undergone surgery for PUJ (Pelvi-Ureteric Junction) obstruction 5 years ago, but unfortunately developed gross hydronephrosis due to recurrent obstruction — causing severe pain and threatening his kidney function.
To relieve his condition, a PCN (Percutaneous Nephrostomy) was placed, which started draining about 1 litre of urine daily, gradually restoring kidney function.
Further evaluation with IVP and RGP revealed a tight PUJ stricture and a very narrow ureter. Considering the complexity, our surgical team decided to perform a rare and technically demanding procedure — Pyelovesicostomy, where the bladder is directly connected to the pelvis of the ectopic kidney.
✨ Post-surgery, Mr. Jassa Singh is pain-free, his kidney function has normalized, and he’s doing exceptionally well!
💪 A remarkable example of how timely intervention and advanced surgical expertise can save kidneys and restore quality of life.
