π¨ Inguinal Hernia Awareness π¨
πΆ Hello friends, Iβm Dr. Abhishek Gupta (MCh Pediatric Surgery, AIIMS, New Delhi), here to spread awareness about inguinal hernia in children.
π©Ί What is Inguinal Hernia?
In this condition, the intestines or tissues from a childβs stomach may protrude near the groin area. This is most common in newborns and especially premature babies.
π Signs to Watch For:
π A lump near the groin that increases when your child cries or exerts pressure.
π The lump disappears when your child lies down or calms down.
β οΈ Treatment:
Surgery is the only solution to treat an inguinal hernia effectively. It can be done via:
βοΈ Open Surgery (incision)
βοΈ Laparoscopic Surgery (telescope method)
π‘ Important Tip: Always ensure the surgery is performed by a qualified pediatric surgeon for the best care.

Another successful surgery for complicated ARM case. 9 months old child presented to us with stenosis anal opening and a scrotal fistula. Child had been operated twice previously at birth elsewhere but had recurrent anal stenosis because of which child had chronic constipation, poor appetite and consequently poor weight gain. Presently after PSARP child has adequate anal opening and is gaining weight rapidly. We at Indus Hospital are currently taking up all kinds of ARM cases and full spectrum of pediatric surgeries.
Satisfied patient means satisfied surgeon. 3 year old female child with Ano Rectal Malformation presented to us 4 months back with abnormally placed anal opening. Child was chronically constipated due to her anatomic abnormality with abdominal distension and inadequate weight gain. Parents had taken the child to various government hospitals since 6 months age and had almost lost all hope. We operated on child and managed her free of cost under Ayushman Bharat Scheme. We at Indus Group of Hospitals are now managing surgical disorders of children with highest complexity and these pediatric surgery facilities are present in very few centres in the region.
