Do you perform crunches to burn fat around your waist?

Just because you are doing abdominal exercises doesn't really mean you are burning fat around your abdomen.
You cannot specifically burn body fat from one particular area.

If you want to burn abdominal fat. Focus on doing compound exercises which builds a strong core.
Most importantly focus on your diet and eat in a caloric deficit
