Happy to share that last week my basket was full of series of hysterectomies (uterus removal surgeries)done for a different variety of indications like symptomatic fibroid uterus,large fibroid uterus,persistent post menopausal bleeding,large ovarian tumours,uterine prolapse done via different routes laproscopically,vaginally and open.

It gives me great pride sharing the success story of this “Miracle baby”…. This wonderful patient visited me around a year and a half ago with history of primary infertility .On examination she was found to have a high vaginal septum with a pin point hole in it ( she had normal me**es possibly via this pinpoint hole in the septum) I counselled her regarding the possible need of septal resection to conceive …But she was not ready for the surgery …..we decided to take a leap of faith for around 6 months via medical methods of infertility treatment .It was beyond imagination that she conceived …..!!!!!
Her pregnancy was full of hurdles…. Complicated by gestational hypertension , cholestasis ,indeterminate APH and IUGR
We took every possible caution in her case , considering the fact that this might be her only chance!!!!
Finally she reached the emergency at the end of her 8 th month with antepartum haemorrhage, she underwent emergency cesarean section coz of vaginal septum and delivered our miracle baby!!!!!
But our hardship did not end here ….. in fact it had just begun…. Baby was diagnosed with esophageal atresia and tracheo esophageal fistula ( in layman terms she had blockage of her food pipe and a connection between air pipe n food pipe) a rare condition that cannot be diagnosed antenatally. Extremely grateful to my colleague Pediatric surgeon Dr Chetna who along with our anaesthesia team headed by Dr Rashmi operated her for the same on day 1 of life and also followed her postoperatively with the kind cooperation of our wonderfully run NICU team headed by Dr Navpreet and Dr Savita…… we could finally discharge her in asymptomatic condition after two weeks of life!!!!
P.S. yes, that’s the reason we can’t keep calm and can’t hold our smiles!!!!!! Finally we won…this was the success of patients’faith in her doctors ,success of our prayers, success of our hard work and perseverance success of our belief in god’ s plans who never let us give up!!!!
