• Causing conflict during holidays or special events to make you miserable and stay in control.
• Claim their lack of meeting your reasonable needs as “normal” while you are “abnormal.”
• Belittling your emotions by calling you “too sensitive” or “weak.”
• Reinforces gender roles and societal expectations to shame and punish you.
• Mocking interests, job, friends, etc., to devalue things that make you unique from them.

We’re sorry… because your mental health matters to us.
We, at Positive World Therapy and Counselling, owe you an apology.
We admit — we’ve made you pause your fast-paced life, question your habits, and finally start putting yourself first.
And for that, we are truly, deeply, and mindfully sorry.

How Can We Support Each Other Better

1. Listen Without Fixing
Sometimes, people don’t need advice—they just need to feel heard. Practice active listening without interrupting, judging, or rushing to offer solutions.

2. Validate Their Feelings
Let them know it’s okay to feel what they’re feeling. A simple “That sounds really hard” or “I’m here for you” can go a long way in making someone feel seen.

3. Check In—Not Just Once
Support isn’t a one-time thing. Follow up. Ask how they’re doing days or weeks later. Small gestures of consistency can build trust and show real care.

4. Respect Boundaries and Encourage Help
Give space when it’s needed, but also gently remind them that seeking professional help is a strength—not a weakness.
