Amid the unrest in Afghanistan, three Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) sniffer dogs have returned to India on Wednesday.

The three sniffer dogs--Maya, Ruby, and Bobby had served the ITBP commandos for three years in Afghanistan.

The dogs, part of the K-9 sniffer dog squad part of the 150-member paramilitary personnel deployed at the Indian Embassy in Kabul, had a challenging task in ensuring the safety of all Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) officials positioned at the Indian Embassy.

Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory compound of the oxicam group which acts by inhibition of prostaglandinsynthesis.

Meloxicam exerts anti-inflammatory, anti-exudative,analgesic and antipyretic effects. It inhibits leukocyte infiltration into theinflamed tissue and prevents bone and cartilage destruction. To a minor extent,it also inhibits collagen-induced thrombocyte aggregation.

INDICATIONS:

Alleviation of inflammation and pain in both acuteand chronic musculoskeletal disorders in dogs.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Initial treatment is a single dose of 0.2 mgmeloxicam/kg body weight on the first day. Treatment is to be continued once daily by oral administration (at 24-hour intervals) at a maintenance dose of0.1 mg meloxicam body weight. Each chewable contains either 1 mg or 2.5 mgmeloxicam, which corresponds to the daily maintenance dose for a 10 kg or a 25kg body weight dog respectively. Each chewable tablet can be halved for accurate dosing according to the individual body weight of the animal. Meloxicam chewable tablets can be administered with or without food.

Ramipril is used to treat high blood pressure(hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks,and kidney problems. Ramipril is also used to improve survival after a heart attack. It may also be used in high risk patients(such as patients with heart disease/diabetes) to help prevent heart attacks and strokes.

How to use Ramipril
Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily.

Side Effects
Dizziness, light headedness,or tiredness may occur as your body adjusts to the medication.Dry cough may also occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen,tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Precautions
Before taking ramipril, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other ACE inhibitors (such as benazepril);or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
